Product Review: Grindlife Apparel
Family Over Everything (F.O.E.)
Since I’m paying homage to a black-owned business each week of the year, naturally I have to show some love to my own family. I patroned Grindlife Apparel the second week of 2017. Grindlife is a hip and contemporary clothingline that was founded by my baby cousin, K Monay, in 2012. Currently based in ATL, she started her company while still living in our hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan. She offers a sporty array of urban gear for both men and women that includes hip tees, dope sweatshirts, hats , zipped hoodies and more. Her gear is designed for those of us who are always on the grind.
Small businesses like Grindlife Apparel are important to the natural hair movement. Entrepreneurs like K. Money fuel our momentum will clothes that represent our sassy, cocky attitude. Every fly hairstyle needs to be accentuated with fly clothes that reflect our slick personalities.
What I chose – I picked a short-sleeved KEWG Galaxy Disstressed Crew in maroon with white writing. I love the slogan, “Kill Em Wit Grindness”. Yeah, that’s dope, right? She distresses it with bleach and fashionable rips. It goes great with my ripped jeans or faded Levi’s.
What I liked – Other than the fact that I supported family, I love the quality of the shirt. The fabric is so soft and kinda plush for a tee. It felt like a hug when I put it on. It fits well too. I was afraid it would run small but it fits perfectly. The price was right for the quality. I would’ve paid $20 just for a plain tee that feels this good. The shirt came quick, less than a week, and I ordered it on her birthday. The party didn’t stop the Grind.
What I didn’t like – Nothing. I’ll definitely by more items Grindlife Apparel in the future. She has a new “Make America Grind Again” shirt that I’m digging. I’ll continue to pay full price without asking for a discount because we’re family. That’s love, respect and business.
